Revision of WDM7 Microphysics Scheme and Evaluation for Precipitating Convection over the Korean Peninsula

The Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) Double-Moment 7-Class (WDM7) cloud microphysics scheme was developed to parameterize precipitation processes explicitly for mesoscale phenomena in the Korean Integrated Model system. However, WDM7 has not been evaluated any precipitating convection system over peninsula. This study modified simulated during summer winter. suggested modifications included integration of new fall velocity–diameter relationship raindrops mass-weighted terminal velocity solid-phase precipitable hydrometeors (the latter is representing mixed-phase particles). snow graupel by Dudhia et al. (2008) allow a more realistic representation partially rimed particles. having an additional hail category does apply this only hail. Additionally, impact enhanced collision-coalescence (C-C) efficiency investigated. An experiment with C-C overall improved skill scores, such as probability detection, equitable threat score, spatial pattern correlation, compared those control winter cases.
